The President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil visited the Amul Dairy Plant in Anand on October 1, 2009. She was accompanied by the Governor of Gujarat, Shri S.C. Jamir. The President was given a brief presentation on the activities of Amul. Later, she also visited the milk reception and processing centre as well as the butter and powder plants. The President also visited the Museum and interacted with a group of women who are involved in activities related to milk production.
While going around the Ashram, the President visited Vinoba Kutir, Mira Kutir and Hridaykunj. The President was also presented a Charkha and samples of fine yarn spun by Smt. Kamalamma Garu in 1924. The President after receiving these items presented them to the Ashram for preservation and display.
