A group of selected students and the principal of the Sainik School located in Imphal in Manipur called-on the President of India, Smt. Pratibha Devisingh Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan on June 24, 2009. The group of 20 students are currently on a tour of the Northern parts of the country as part of the process of national integration. The students in the school not only come from Manipur but also from the neighbouring states of Tripura, Arunachal Pradesh and Mizoram. The students were keen during their interaction with the President to know about her message for the youth. The President said the future of India rests on the shoulders of the people below the age of 35 who make-up 70 percent of the population of the country. This age group she said, is bubbling with energy and should work with honesty and sincerity for the progress of the country.
